CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - A man who died after being stabbed in Champaign has been identified by the coroner.

The Champaign County Coroner said Nathan G. Gudeman, 22, died after being stabbed on W. Healey St. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the stabbing just after 1 a.m. on March 22. 

The stabbing happened near Healey St. and Fair St. just after midnight. Champaign police found two victims, Gudeman and a 22-year-old woman, both with stab wounds. 

The woman was taken to the hospital and remains in critical condition. 

Investigation shows the man and woman were attacked a person with a knife. The attacker left the scene. 

Police were later able to locate the suspect, Alex Muanambta, 23, at his home in Rantoul.

Muanambta was arrested and faces initial charges of First-Degree Murder and Attempted Murder. 

An autopsy for Gudeman is scheduled for Monday, March 24.

The death is being investigated by the Champaign Police Department and the Champaign County Coroner’s Office.
