Arrest made after deadly stabbing in Champaign

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) -- One man is dead and one woman is recovering after a stabbing.

It happened near Healey St. and Fair St. just after midnight Saturday. 

When police arrived, they found a 22 year old woman and 22 year old man, both from Champaign. 

Police said, the woman was taken to the hospital and remains in critical condition. The man was stabbed multiple times and died at the scene. 

Investigation shows the man and woman were attacked a person with a knife. The attacker left the scene. 

Police were later able to locate the suspect, Alex Muanambta, 23, at his home in Rantoul.

Muanambta was arrested and faces initial charges of First-Degree Murder and Attempted Murder.
