DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The Macon County Emergency Management Agency has scheduled staggered testing of the Outdoor Warning System for July and August.

The testing will ensure the primary and backup activation systems are functioning as intended.

July's tests will use the primary system, and August's tests will use the backup system.

Decatur's siren system will be tested separately to limit confusion caused by sirens being heard from neighboring areas.

The siren testing schedule will be:

  • 10:10 a.m. – Northeast Quadrant - Maroa, Argenta, Oreana, Forsyth
  • 10:15 a.m. – Southeast Quadrant - Mt. Zion, Long Creek
  • 10:20 a.m. – Southwest Quadrant - Blue Mound, Macon, Elwin
  • 10:25 a.m. – Northwest Quadrant - Harristown, Niantic, Warrensburg, Decatur Township (Cathryn/Sunnyside)
