MT. ZION, Ill. (WAND) - A Mt. Zion native is a semi-finalist in a competition to land the cover of Maxim magazine.
Nicole Butler lives in Los Angeles now, but grew up in Mt. Zion.
Her family still lives in the area.
Butler is a pediatric speech therapist with a masters degree from NYU. She is a founding board member of the Child Success Foundation. The foundation's spokeswoman is actress Jennifer Garner.
Child Success Foundation provides grants to families who cannot afford speech therapy and other services.
Butler also works as an actress. She was on Jimmy Kimmel playing Melania Trump.
Butler, who has been modeling since she was 14 and is now with CESD modeling agency, spoke with WAND over the phone about the Maxim cover competition.
The competition is benefiting Wounded Warriors, a cause Butler said is close to her heart. Many of her family members have served in the military.
People vote online for their favorite potential cover girls. You can vote for free once every 24 hours or vote additional times by making a donation to Wounded Warriors. $1 equals one vote.
Butler is currently a semi-finalist. Out of more than 20,000 applicants, she was chosen as one of more than 100 semi-finalists.
She is currently ranked 4th in the online voting. The top 12 will be named finalists on Nov. 8. A winner will be announced Nov. 21.
The winner will not only be on the cover of Maxim, but will also walk away with $25,000. Butler told WAND she plans to donate that money to the Child Success Foundation if she wins.
