MARION, Ill. (WAND) - The American Red Cross of Illinois is working with other local and state organizations to help residents in Williamson County affected by the recent storms and tornado.

They will open a Multi-Agency Resource Center (MARC) on Thursday, May 22, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The MARC will be at the Pavilion, located at 1602 Sioux Drive in Marion, IL.

The MARC is a place where residents can find many services and resources to support their recovery. Here are some of the services available:
  • Social services
  • Senior support
  • Mental health services
  • Emergency supplies (such as totes, trash bags, gloves, and more)
  • Hot meals provided by Operation BBQ Relief

Residents affected by the storm are encouraged to come and get the help they need during this difficult time.

Trained Red Cross Caseworkers will be at the MARC to assist people in making personal recovery plans, completing paperwork, and getting help for their specific needs caused by the disaster.

Representatives from various government, nonprofit, and religious organizations will also be there to support affected residents.

“The Red Cross is proud to join our partners in Marion to assist these residents that were greatly impacted by the storms and tornado that damaged many homes in the area,” South and West Central Illinois Executive Director Dawn Morris said. “Since the tornado hit, we’ve seen this community pull together to help one another and the Red Cross will continue to be here to provide comfort and care to those who need it most.”

During this time, individuals and families can meet with agencies for referrals or other long term recovery services.

Those applying for assistance are asked to bring identification showing address and proof of residence to be eligible for assistance from some agencies.
