(WAND) - Over 13,000 air conditioners have been recalled amid a national heat wave.Â
Daikin Comfort Technologies Manufacturing announced the recall on June 25 due to burn and fire risks.
Two models are affected, which include the Amana window-room-air and the Amana through-the-wall units and heat pumps.
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the affected models were sold from April 2025 through December 2025.
The heating elements can remain energized even when powered off.
No injuries have been reported, but in one case, the unit's plastic melted.
Anyone with one of these units is asked to stop using it immediately and contact the manufacturer for a full refund.
