CHATHAM, IL- The early phases of construction are underway for a new athletic complex in Chatham.

A Springfield development company bought 80 acres of land west of Glenwood High School. The first phase of the arena includes a lighted soccer field and baseball diamond, as well as a 2,000 square foot concession stand.

Owner Peter Christofilakos expects much of the park to be open as early as mid-April. He says the complex will give residents in Chatham and Springfield more options when it comes to playing sports.

An indoor football and basketball facility will also be added to the complex. That phase of construction is expected to be finished by early next year.
