What's next for the Champaign County Nursing Home

URBANA, Ill. (WAND) – A central Illinois nursing home will likely see new management this month.

Our partners at The News-Gazette report area leaders want a new firm to run the Champaign County Nursing Home. SAK Management Services would be in charge.

County administrator Rick Snider says SAK has experience dealing with homes that need help to complete a turnaround. The firm would replace Management Performance Associates, a company located in Chesterfield, Mo.

The News-Gazette says the Champaign County home has seen its census dip in the last year, falling from 178 to 132 from May of 2016 to last month. It owes millions to vendors and the Champaign County government.

County leaders say SAK will be paid through incentives, earning more the higher they build the nursing home’s census numbers. Snider says the firm will get a six-month contract.

The county expects to approve the deal sometime in June.Â
