NWS reported the strongest of the three tornadoes occurred in extreme northern Cumberland County into southern Coles County, which included the township of Neoga and Trilla.

According to National Weather Service’s preliminary findings, this EF-2 tornado touched down just south of Neoga and would eventually lift back up just a couple miles south of the Coles County Memorial Airport.

NWS confirmed that the EF-2 tornado is the cause of damage to all Neoga Schools and an outbuilding in Trilla before lifting back up.

The other two confirmed tornadoes included an EF-1 roughly 3 miles north of Mattoon and another EF-1 tornado in Paris, Illinois.
