SHELBYVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — An Okaw Valley School teacher who was arrested for indecent solicitation of a child and grooming has been placed under home confinement according to court records.
Jason Engler, a 45-year-old middle school teacher, was arrested by the Findlay Police Department after being contacted by the school district.
He was taken to the Shelby County Detention Center before he was arraigned. In court this week, he was put on home confinement with GPS and ordered not to use the internet or social media.
In a statement, the Findlay Police Department said the department "would like to commend the bravery of the victims in this case who came foreard. We encourage all victims of sexual abuse to come forward, and we promise to do everything in our power to offer support."
Engler returns to court mid-September.
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
