Person killed in Springfield motorcycle crash

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - A person was killed in a motorcycle crash in Springfield Wednesday morning. 

Springfield Police responded to South Dirksen Parkway and Horizon Drive at 8:52 a.m. for a crash involving a pickup truck and a motorcycle.

Officers found the driver of the motorcycle, a 46-year-old man from Riverton, dead.

The person's identity has not yet been released. 

The accident is being investigated by the Springfield Police Department Criminal Investigations Division. 

Northbound and Southbound traffic on Dirksen Parkway will be temporarily shut down. The closure extends from Executive Park Drive to the Crowne Plaza.
