MT. ZION, Ill. (WAND) – A man threw a dog and caused a leg injury, police say.
After midnight on Wednesday, officers reported going to a Mt. Zion address in the 600 block of W. Main St. in response to an animal cruelty report. The Chihuahua’s owner said her son, 22-year-old Tristin Jones, threw the animal when he was supposed to take it outside.
A sworn statement says the dog couldn’t put any pressure on its front left leg. Police told the owner to take the dog to a vet.
Police questioned Jones, who they say told them he “didn’t like the dog”, that he was bi-polar, and that the dog wouldn’t go outside. They say Jones also said he heard the animal “whelp” after throwing it.
Officers arrested Jones on Wednesday morning. He’s charged with cruel treatment of animals, which is a felony count. Â
