NORMAL, Ill. (WAND) - Normal Police have now released that a double shooting that happened Wednesday was a murder-suicide.
Normal Police were called to the 3000 block of Red Jasper St. at 2:26 a.m. Wednesday for a shooting. They found two people with gunshot wounds inside a residence.
Normal Police Officers and the Normal Fire Department began life saving measures, and one victim was transported to a local hospital.
Both victims passed away from their injuries.
Normal Police announced Thursday that their investigation showed Matthew S. Moore, 46, of Bloomington illegally entered residence where the shooting happened. They said Matthew Moore shot and killed 48-year-old Amy E. Moore of Normal multiple times before turning the gun on himself.
The McLean County Coroner’s Office and the Normal Police Department continue to investigate.
Normal Police said this appears to be an isolated incident and says there is no immediate safety concern to the public.
