SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — Illinois Conservation Police are on the hunt to find those responsible for using a crossbow to decapitate a double drop tine buck near the University of Illinois Springfield campus.
The Illinois Conservation Police say the buck was found near the intersection of University Drive at West Lake Shore Drive, shot to death with a crossbow from the roadway.
The crossbow was later discovered in the timber with the head removed. Conservation Police believe it happened last year between the evening of January 12 to the morning of January 14.
