DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) —  The Original Del's Popcorn Shop is celebrating 90 years.

In 1934, a young entrepreneur named John Baldwin opened a tiny confectionery on Merchant Street in downtown Decatur. He called his store "The Popcorn Shop," for his main product. In 1945, the shop was leased to Del Barnett and his wife. They carried the tradition and changed the name to Del's Popcorn Shop.

The shop changed hands over time, but one thing remained the same — the popcorn!

On Saturday the Original Del's Popcorn Shop will hold a 90th Birthday Bash on Merchant Street. The event kicks off at 11 a.m.
