Check presentation for Rantoul Youth Center

RANTOUL, Ill. (WAND) — Big upgrades are on the way for the Rantoul Youth Center.

Thursday, Congresswoman Robin Kelly (IL-02) presented the center with a $540,000 check.

The funding will help make critical upgrades to the kitchen and serving area.

It will also finish work in the main dining room and update the offices and gym.

That will be beneficial to the center since it operates a summer food program whcih provides meals to children during the school break.

“Every child deserves a place in their community where they can discover mentors, play with their friends and receive a nutritious meal,” said Congresswoman Robin Kelly. “I am proud to have worked closely with the Village of Rantoul to invest in the young people of this community.”

“We have been able to provide food, fun, and educational opportunities for Rantoul’s youth for three decades in this facility, but the building had grown tired and no longer met the demands and needs of today,” said Andy Graham, Assistant Parks and Recreation Director.

The funding helps them feed more youth, reduces the food insecurities in our community, and grows the health and wellness in the community.
