S.A. Durbin Trucking Food Drive returns to Decatur Kroger for year 2

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND)- The S.A. Durbin Trucking Food Drive is back for another year.

The event will take place from 7 A.M to 5 P.M on both November 15th and 16th at the Kroger Airport Plaza. The drive will benefit the Northeast Community Fund.

According to Operations Manager Rebecca Taylor, this year they’re hoping to fill a truckload of donations.

“Everything that we accept, we will deliver to them, and then they will use that for the Thanksgiving food baskets, Christmas, just so all the families can have a nice meal for the holiday. So that's the ultimate goal, is that everybody can, you know, eat.”

Rebecca mentions that while they are looking to collect as many nonperishable items as possible, to be wary of the expiration dates.

“So if you guys have some extra items in the cabinet, canned goods, a cereal, marshmallows, anything, you know, because they can use the marshmallows for the sweet potato pie and stuff like that.”
