CLINTON, Ill. (WAND) - A man was arrested after police said he ran from police in a semi-truck.Â
On Monday afternoon, Clinton police were asked to help the Illinois State Police stop a semi travelling southbound on US Highway 51 approaching Clinton.Â
Clinton police and DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office personnel responded to the area and joined Illinois State Police Troop 5 troopers in trying to stop the semi.
Police said the driver came into Clinton via Illinois Route 10 from US Highway 51 and disobeyed multiple traffic control devices while speeding eastbound through Clinton.
The driver brought the semi tractor-trailer to a stop in a residential yard near the intersection of Illinois Route 54 and Portland Place. Police said the driver, identified as a 53-year-old Clinton man, was taken into custody by Illinois State Police.

He was transported to the McLean County Jail for processing on multiple charges.
