DECATUR, IL- Two Decatur brothers have been sentenced for their roles in beating a Decatur veteran to death two years ago.
Fredrick Rhone, 18, pleaded guilty to the 2009 murder of Jerry Newingham earlier this year. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison Wednesday. Rhone must serve 100% of his sentence.
Fredrick's twin brother Dedrick Rhone pleaded guilty to attempted murder back in May. He has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
Two other teens convicted of beating Jerry Newingham to death, 16 year-old Deonta Johnson and 18 year-old Elliott Murphy, will be sentenced separately September 28. That decision was made in court Wednesday.
A judge also agreed with prosecutors that both Johnson and Murphy should be shackled whenever they are in court. That decision was made because Murphy made a violent outburst during the pair's jury trial and had to be restrained by officers.
