CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - Interstate 74 east in Champaign will be shut down for hours after a serious crash. 

The crash happened near milepost 179, near the Interstate 57 interchange. 

Illinois State Police troopers are handling a lane blockage and expect the road to be shut down for a few hours. 

I‑74 eastbound at the I-57 interchange is being diverted onto I‑57 southbound.

Travelers on I‑57 southbound should use Curtis Road to access Champaign.

Travelers on I‑57 northbound can use either Curtis Road or the Market Street exit to reach Champaign.

Those traveling from Mahomet to Champaign should seek alternative routes and expect slowed traffic and delays.

There is no word yet on whether any injuries were reported in the crash.
