On March 21, Springfield Fire Fighters Local 37 made the following comment on Facebook referencing a lack of ambulances available in the city.
Chance told city leaders that 13 ambulances were running calls on the day referenced in the post. He explained that 911 Dispatch is required to send an alert tone to EMS providers if there is only one ambulance available for calls. But that did not happen, according to Chance.
He also asked Springfield alders to consider changes to the city's code that could differentiate dispatch to designate between basic and advanced life support calls.
