SPRINGFIELD, Illinois – The Springfield Ballet Company will hold auditions for its 2012-2013 season at 12 noon on Sunday, April 29, at the Hoogland Center for the Arts, Theatre II, 420 South 6th Street.

Auditions for trainee positions are open to all area intermediate dancers who are at least 10 years old. Dancers must be advanced and at least 13 years old to audition for the Company.

Women are to have their hair in a secure bun and must wear a black leotard, pink tights and pink pointe shoes and/or ballet shoes. Men should wear black pants, a white t-shirt and black or white ballet shoes.

Dancers should arrive 30 minutes early to register, and there is a $20 audition fee payable in cash or check made out to the Springfield Ballet Company. 

The Springfield Ballet Company is a civic not-for-profit ballet company that has been entertaining and educating area audiences since 1975 and is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency. The company offers three major productions at the University of Illinois at Springfield's Sangamon Auditorium each year, and also performs at festivals, schools and nursing homes throughout central Illinois.  SBC is committed to providing equitable opportunities for company dancers to be trained in and to perform the art of dance, and to offer opportunities for all members of the central Illinois community to be educated and entertained. The 2012-2013 season will include Rockballet, September 15-16, 2012, The Nutcracker, December 8-9, 2012 and Sleeping Beauty, April 27-28, 2013
