DECATUR--Hundreds will be looking for work now that layoffs at StarTek have gone into effect.Â
359 people used to work at the Decatur location just a few months ago and now only four people work here.
At the Decatur facility hundreds worked the phone lines providing customer service for communications companies.Â
But now that the when the company couldn't find a new client for this location, hundreds were laid off, their last day Friday.Â
Bonnie Miles, who lost her job, is concerned about the influx of people searching for jobs.
"I don't know where they're going to go to work honestly and pay the bills when they were working here," Miles said.
A company spokesperson said they tried very hard to secure a new client but weren't able to do it within the 60 day time frame which resulted in the layoffs.
If they're able to land a new client, then there's a chance it could re-open and they could re-hire people laid off.Â
