SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — A plan heading to Gov. JB Pritzker's desk could protect consumers and ensure a fairer, more transparent ticket resale market.
The bill bans ticket resellers from selling, listing, or advertising tickets unless they have actual possession of the tickets at the time they're offered.Â
Sponsors said selling tickets you don't own is a gamble with someone else's money.
"It actually does have to deal with my daughter," said Sen. Steve Stadelman (D-Rockford). "Anybody who has a teenage daughter or had a teenage daughter at one time feels the pain and knows why I'm putting forth this legislation."
Stadelman said this change will protect fans from misleading sales tactics, prevent artificially inflated prices and ensure accountability in the ticket marketplace.
House Bill 4984 passed unanimously out of both chambers this spring.Â
