TUSCOLA, Ill. (WAND) — A man arrested for a deadly shooting in Newman on Monday appeared in Douglas County Court today.
James W. Haynes was arrested on murder charges after a shooting in the 300 block of S. Shirley St. early Monday morning.

Douglas County State’s Attorney Robert Kosic filed a petition to deny Haynes pretrial release. The petition was granted by Judge Kate Watson.
A charging document filed today alleges that Haynes shot the victim in the head with a Glock 9mm handgun.
The victim's identity has not yet been released to the public.
