TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — The Taylorville Police Department has released a statement about a case of assault that took place on a school bus.

The department did not provide details of the case — one that involves an accused juvenile offender and victim — but rather addressed social media rumors that have been circulating.

Illinois State Police said that the criminal investigation division was contacted by the Christian County Sheriff’s Office on Feb. 2 to investigate an alleged assault that took place on a Taylorville School District Bus. ISP submitted its findings to the Christian County States Attorney’s Office.

WAND News has reached out to the state's attorney's office to learn more about the case including the status and what charges were filed.

On August 15, Taylorville Superintendent Brandi Bruley sent a statement to parents and guardians acknowledging the district is aware of the case, but is unable to comment on particular students.
