PITTSFIELD, Ill. (WAND)- A teenager and a 68-year-old woman died in a head-on collision in Pike County, according to Illinois State Police. And a man from Springfield was cited for causing the crash.

ISP said they were called for a three vehicle crash on Illinois 106 just east of 335th Street in Pike County Tuesday. 

ISP Trooper Genelle Jones told WAND News that 72-year-old Eric Harris of Springfield attempted to pass a vehicle when he hit an on-coming vehicle.

Harris and the driver and passenger of the vehicle Harris hit were all taken to the hospital with serious injuries, according to ISP. The driver who was being passed was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

A 68-year-old female from Pittsfield traveling with Harris, and another female juvenile traveling in the vehicle Harris hit head-on were pronounced dead at the scene.

Harris was cited for Improper Lane Usage. 

This crash is under investigation.
