DANVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — The Dwelling Place has been serving Vermilion County since 2020. They've re-opened one of their three homes dedicated to helping people facing homelessness.

"We have given our neighbors a place to come to take a nap, to take a shower. There was nowhere they could take a shower, nowhere they could do their laundry for free," said co-director of the Dwelling Place day center, Nancy O'Kane.

The homes originally opened in 2020 but went through some renovations. Immanuel House re-opened in 2022 and stands right next to Bethlehem House.

"Our goal is to provide a place for homeless families. In Danville we have a place for men, we have a place for women with children, but we don't have a place for families. So, that's currently what Immanuel's House is," said O'Kane.
