SPRINGFIELD, IL- A local television news reporter is seriously injured after a three vehicle crash Tuesday.
According to a release sent by Illinois State Police District 9, a semi-truck crashed into the back of a car on Illinois Route 97 around 12:45 p.m. Tuesday. That car, a 2005 Subaru, was pushed into oncoming and crashed head-on into an SUV.
The driver of the Subaru was 28 year-old Katie Heinz, on-air reporter for WICS in Springfield.
Police say Heinz was taken to St. John's Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the SUV was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
