Two young men are dead after a car slammed into a Decatur home. It happened on North Water Street and West Kellar Lane early Sunday morning.

Police say the driver was treated at a hospital, then booked on aggravated DUI charges.

Macon County Coroner Michael Day identified the two passengers who died as Matthew Yelovich, 24, of Mt. Zion and Anthony Samuelson, 24, of Decatur. The coroner said both men suffered massive head and torso trauma and were pronounced dead at the scene. Police say another passenger was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Diana Garner was asleep when the car hit her home.

"They had hit the back of my house and it knocked my pipe and my gas," Garner said.

Decatur police said a preliminary investigation showed that the driver was speeding, lost control and hit the house. The impact of the car hitting the house cracked the bricks and threw shrubs and debris everywhere.

Mark Bateman, a friend of the men who died, stopped by the house Sunday.

"Knew them both," Bateman said. "Just great guys. Good families and a huge loss."

The Decatur Police Fatal Accident Investigations Team is looking into the crash.
