URBANA, Ill. (WAND) - The Urbana Fire Department is investigating a house fire that displaced two people and caused thousands of dollars in damage Thursday afternoon.

Officials say crews were dispatched to the 1900 block of East Florida Avenue at about 2:35 p.m. for a report of a house fire.  Upon arriving, firefighters say they saw light smoke coming from the eaves of a duplex, and saw flames inside the kitchen when they entered the building.

Firefighters say the fire was contained to the kitchen, and that the flames were extinguished a few minutes after arrival.  The home sustained smoke damage throughout and officials say the kitchen sustained fire and heat damage as well, with damages being estimated at $25,000.

No injuries were reported in connection with this fire, but two people have been displaced.  The investigation into the fire is ongoing.
