Decatur – A popular south side Decatur restaurant will be getting a new building.
The Wharf, 201 1st Drive W., will temporarily close after May 21st so their current structure can be demolished and replaced with a new building. It will reopen once construction is completed.
The restaurant which serves burgers, salads and other popular food items has been located for decades behind the Circle K gas station in South Shores. The new restaurant will have more seats and a bigger kitchen.
Owner Matt Sites will also open a second restaurant on May 24th. It will be called “Locals 101 Bar & Grille” and it will be located in downtown Decatur at One Main Place.
Locals 101 will be a sports bar with a focus on local sports teams.
Construction of the new Wharf building is expected to last 4-6 months.
