Woman shot to death in Champaign

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - An investigation is underway after a woman was shot to death in Champaign Monday.

Champaign police were called at 7:50 p.m. to the 2400 block of W. Springfield Avenue for a report of a shooting with injuries.

Officers found a 21-year-old woman with multiple life-threatening gunshot wounds. She was rushed to the hospital but died a short time later.

Police said their initial investigation shows a man and woman entered a business when an unknown subject opened fire. The woman was struck multiple times. The man was not struck. The subject then fled the area on foot. Police said the gunfire is unknown.
