The events are part of a suite of ambitious tenant proposals proposed by Mamdani, whose pledge to freeze the rent for regulated apartments became a rallying cry on the campaign trail. Landlords, meanwhile, say the policies will lead to more tenant complaints as owners are forced to cut back on maintenance and services to meet rising costs.
