ISP investigating theft of funds in pro-police nonprofit, 1 deputy on administrative leave

URBANA, Ill. (WAND) - A former Champaign deputy has pleaded guilty to theft in a case where he was accused of stealing funds from a a pro-law enforcement foundation.

Matthew Stuckey, a former Champaign County Sheriff’s Deputy, and organizer of the 10-78 Foundation, was accused of having misused funds from the Back the Blue Champaign County foundation.

Stuckey recently pleaded guilty to one count of theft between $10,000 and $100,000. He was sentenced to 36 months of probation and 30 hours of public service work.

ISP started the investigation last November. On April 17, Stuckey was placed on administrative leave per Merit Commission rules pending an administrative investigation by the Sheriff’s Office. He then resigned as a sheriff's deputy.
