CHARLESTON -- Adam Cushing was introduced as the new Eastern Illinois head football coach Monday - the 25th in program history.
"The wins will come on the football field," Cushing said. "We're going to win games. We're going to hold up the OVC trophy, and we're going to hold up the national championship trophy."
He drew a round of applause for that statement.
Cushing comes to Charleston from Northwestern, where he spent 15 years as an assistant (13 under Pat Fitzgerald). He was most recently the offensive line coach. He also spent time as the tight ends and h-backs coach, and recruiting coordinator.
A Chicago native, Cushing says he's had his eye on the Eastern Illinois job for a long time.
