Keaton Wagler

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) — Illinois guard Keaton Wagler has won the 2026 Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award, the team announced Saturday.

The award, presented by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, is given to the top shooting guard in NCAA Division I men's basketball every year.

Wagler, who was named a second-team All-American by the Associated Press, had a breakout freshman year for the Illini. He is averaging a team high 17.9 points and 4.3 assists per game.

He shattered the Illini's freshman scoring record, helping the team to their first Final Four appearance since 2005.
