CHAMPAIGN, Ill.– Illinois sophomore forward David Mirkovic underwent successful surgery today in Indianapolis after suffering a left foot injury during a team workout in Champaign on July 31. He is expected to make a full recovery.
Mirkovic averaged 13.3 points, team-leading 8.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists last season, earning All-Big Ten honorable mention and Big Ten All-Freshman Team honors. He also was selected to the NCAA South All-Region Team, helping lead the Fighting Illini to a 2026 Final Four appearance.
