DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - A good Samaritan was hurt while trying to rescue people from a house fire in Decatur.Â
The Decatur Fire Department was called to the 400 block of W Sawyer at 6 p.m. Saturday. Firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the address.Â
Crews were able to quickly bring the fire under control. Three adults, one of whom was home at the time of the fire, were displaced. The person who was home was not injured.Â
However, a neighbor who tried to help them get out was taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation.Â
The American Red Cross is helping the family. The cause of the fire is under investigation.Â
