DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — The Decatur Catholic 8th grade girls volleyball team won its first ever state title Saturday.
Decatur Catholic consists of student-athletes from St. Patrick Catholic School, Holy Family Catholic School, and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School.
The team, which finished 28-2 on the season, beat Morrisonville in the 2A State Title Game, winning 26-24 in the first set and 25-22 in the second set.
The win marked the first ever state title for the Decatur Catholic organization.
Decatur Catholic Athletics said there will be a celebration soon. A date and time has not been set yet.
