#14 Illinois welcomes #11 Texas Tech to C-U for top 25 clash | Sports

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - State Farm Center will be rocking Tuesday night with the #14 Illinois Fighting Illini hosting the #11 Texas Tech Red Raiders.

Illinois defeated Florida Gulf Coast University in its last matchup, 113-70. The Illini have surpassed the century mark in its first two games to open the season. Guard Kylan Boswell led the team in scoring with 31 points and added 10 rebounds in 28 minutes.

Texas Tech has opened up the season with back-to-back wins over Lindenwood and Sam Houston. The Red Raiders are coming off an Elite Eight appearance in last season's NCAA Tournament, losing by five to the eventual national champion Florida Gators.

Illinois and Texas Tech are facing off for the first time. Additionally, the Illini are searching for its highest-ranked win since beating #9 Oregon in January 2025, according to Illinois Athletics.
