CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - Illinois is one win away from their first Final Four appearance in 20 years, but they must get past Big Ten rival Iowa to get there.
The Fighting Illini took down the 2-seeded Houston Cougars on their home court following a 65-55 win in the Sweet 16. Illinois broke out for 41 second half points after holding a two-point advantage before the half.
Iowa narrowly lost to the Illini 75-69 on Jan. 11 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Following the win over Houston, Brad Underwood became the first coach in program history to win 27+ games in multiple seasons, according to Illinois Athletics.
