CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) — With the Illini up for a spot in the Final Four, bars across Champaign-Urbana are getting prepared.
The City of Champaign put temporary alcohol sale restrictions in place for this weekend as the community celebrates the Illinois men's basketball team heading to the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament.
Even bars that are not affected by the restrictions — like the Tumble Inn — are gearing up for the weekend.Â
"It's always a blast, especially when the Illini are playing as well as they are right now. We'll be fully staffed; we open our doors pretty early in the mornings; most locals know that. We'll be good to go. We're ready," said Owner Tobin Hergess.
Hergess said the Tumble Inn gets a boost anytime a local team plays, but with the Illini's unexpected run in the tournament, he's expecting an even bigger one.
"When the Illini does well, everybody does well," he said.
