Illini guard Andrej Stojakovic against Northwestern on February 4, 2026.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) — Illini guard Andrej Stojakovic announced he will return to Illinois for a second season Friday.

The announcement was made through a post to the team's social media pages.

Stojakovic was a big contributor during the team's Final Four run, the first time the program advanced that far in the NCAA Tournament in 21 years. He excelled in the NCAA Tournament, averaging 13.8 points on 55.3% shooting and earning a spot on the NCAA All-South Regional Team during Illinois' run to the Final Four.

The junior guard was the Illini's second-leading scorer, averaging 13.5 points on 50% shooting (168-336). He scored in double figures 19 times with eight 20-point games, led by a season-high 30 points vs. Maryland (Jan. 21). Stojakovic also averaged 4.5 rebounds and made better than 80% from the free throw line (103-128).

Stojakovic is the fifth player from last season's squad to announce his return. David Mirkovic, Jake Davis, Tomislav Ivisic and Zvonimir Ivisic all announced they will return on Wednesday.

The Illini are coming off a Final Four appearance, 28-9 record – the fourth-most wins in school history – and Big Ten runner-up finish.

Illinois is the winningest team in Big Ten play over the last seven seasons and is one of four programs nationally with seven straight 20-win regular seasons.
