CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) --Illinois football officially opened their Fall camp for the 2026 season Monday night.

The team will have 25 practices in the buildup to their season opener against UAB.

Bret Bielema shared that quarterbacks each have cameras attached to their helmets so coaches can review film and not just see what their QBs are looking at but hear what they're saying.

On the defensive side, the Illini are preaching situational awareness to make critical decisions in quick moments.

Bielema said even after all his time in football no first practice is the same because no team is the same.

It was announced over the weekend that Illinois will host their "Hail to the Orange Out" game against Purdue on October 3rd.

The Illini's November 6th Friday night game against Nebraska will be a "Hail to the Blue Out".
