MT. ZION, Ill. (WAND) -- The Lew Jack Skills Camp in Mt. Zion is offering boys and girls from third thru eighth grade a chance to learn from many different people.

Pro player Christian Williams wants to make sure kids learn the fundamentals during their time at the camp.

"Simple passing, simple dribbling stuff, simple shooting skills," Williams said. " A lot of these kids today like to get out on the court and just start shooting the basketball and not have any instructions so that's what we're trying to do today."

The camp is a three day event. Lewis Jackson brought a combination of pros, college players and coaches to help the kids with their fundamentals and other skills for the basketball season.

"We're trying to teach them the basics just so when they get back to their coaches they can see that they've been working on the fundamentals of the game," Lewis said.

This years cam has over 100 kids who say they have enjoyed their experience so far during their firsts day of the camp.

But for Lewis this is more than just a camp for the kids to learn basketball.

"We're a community. There are people out here that care about your kids and obviously people think about money and things but we're here to care." Lewis said.
