MT. ZION, Ill. (WAND) - Mt. Zion wide receiver Jacob Harvey officially signed his national letter of intent to play for the University of Illinois next fall.
Harvey initially committed to play at Illinois State on Monday, but Illini Head Coach Bret Bielema called and offered him a scholarship in Champaign-Urbana Tuesday night, and Harvey decided it was too good of an opportunity to pass up.
Harvey told WAND Sports, "It's really rewarding. This is something I've been telling my parents I wanted to do since I can remember. I think ever since I was throwing the ball in the backyard I've wanted to play at this level, so it's really just a dream come true to finally be here."
Harvey will reunite with MTZ teammate Brayden Trimble in the Illini wide receiver room.
