CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - Spring Football is your first chance to see who stands out, whether its new additions or players ready to take the next step.
One player that is turning heads at Illinois football spring practice is Mt. Zion's very own Brayden Trimble.
Both teammates and coaches are taking notice of the freshman's athleticism and say he is one of the best workers they have seen.
"Just his speed in and out of cuts," said wide receivers coach Justin Stepp. "I've been doing this for 18 years and have had seven guys drafted. He accelerates better than anyone I've seen."
"He has a confidence to him that's necessary if you want to succeed as a freshman," said receiver Collin Dixon. "He's just got a good head on him and he comes in and works hard every single day."
Trimble skipped the second half of his senior year and enrolled this winter.Â
