Dense fog this morning and excessive heat begins today

DECATUR, IL. (WAND) - Happy Sunday. Our most intense heat wave of the season begins today, but before the heat moves in, we’re dealing with fog.

A Dense Fog Advisory is in place until 8 a.m., highlighting lowered visibility from areas of fog. As you step outside this morning, it’s not only foggy but muggy and warm. A few isolated showers have even developed along a lingering stationary front; however, the return of dry air will allow us to dry out by midday.

We’ll be back to sunshine by this afternoon, setting us up for upper-80s temperatures, with a few hometowns hitting 90. When you add in humidity, we’ll be talking about feels-like temperatures in the upper 90s and low 100s. A Heat Advisory is in place through 1 pm today into this evening, and it will return each day throughout the rest of the work week, with heat index values getting up to 110.
