Dry air dominates for the weekend

DECATUR, IL. (WAND) - Happy Fri-YAY! We have made it to the weekend, and a pleasant forecast is in store.

Dry air dominates today, and even wherever an isolated shower may try to develop, that dry air will hinder its ability to hit the ground as anything more than sprinkles. Otherwise, we’ll be mostly sunny and warm today with highs in the upper 80s. A few locations could see low 90s, and those areas will be approaching their record high for today.

Sunshine continues this weekend, but as our next weathermaker gradually arrives, winds will pick up, gusting up to 25 mph. Between the dry air, gusty winds, and fallen leaves and brush, we’ll be looking at fire weather concerns. Make sure to check with local officials before burning.

Rain is on the horizon, and although it likely won’t bring a significant amount, it will bring a significant cooldown. Temperatures next week will go from the upper 80s to the low 70s by the midweek.
